Jannik Sinner accomplished a host of stellar statistical feats as he continued his dominant run at the 2025 French Open.
The world No 1 dismantled 15th-ranked Andrey Rublev 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 in the last 16 at Roland Garros on Monday.
Sinner broke five times and saved all three of the break points he faced during the night session clash on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
During his French Open campaign, Sinner is yet to lose a set and he has only dropped 30 games in his four victories.
With his 72nd Grand Slam victory, Sinner has surpassed Fabio Fognini for the most match wins at majors among Italian men in the Open Era.
At the age of 23 years and 282 days, Sinner has become the fifth-youngest male player in the Open Era to reach the quarter-finals at six consecutive Grand Slam tournaments.
Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz and Pete Sampras all reached the last eight at six successive majors before turning 22, while Novak Djokovic is the only other man to achieve the feat a younger age than Sinner.

3. Pete Sampras – 21 years and 341 days
4. Novak Djokovic – 23 years and 100 days
5. Jannik Sinner – 23 years and 282 days
Sinner’s relentless excellence since the start of last year is encapsulated by the fact he has now reached at least the quarter-finals at the last 17 tournaments he has played (excluding the ATP Finals, where there is no quarter-final stage).
This run started at the 2024 Australian Open and includes 14 events last season and three in 2025.
Since the ATP Tour was founded in 1990, only four players have made the quarter-finals at more successive tournaments than Sinner. Roger Federer holds the record, having made the last eight at an incredible 27 ATP events in a row between 2004 and 2006.

Sinner addressed whether he feels as comfortable on clay as he does on hard courts — a surface on which he has dominated over the last 18 months.
“It’s a good question (smiles). I don’t think we can compare a couple of clay-court tournaments with the results I’ve had on hard courts,” the three-time major champion said in his press conference after beating Rublev.
“It’s clear that I’ve improved compared to last year, or so I feel. I think the level is a little better, and that should be my goal. The results? Some tournaments can be very good, others might not show it, but I’m very happy.
“Last year I made the semi-finals here, this year at least the quarter-finals, which is a great path for me. The conditions today were fantastic, it wasn’t too windy, while during the day I think I was running a little more. Very happy to be in the quarter-finals.”
Asked if he has reached his peak level, Sinner said: “Of course I’m playing at a very good level of tennis. We can see that, it’s clear. Mentally, I’m much freer now, which allows me to be more focused at certain moments.
“On the other hand, this is only my second tournament. I hadn’t played for three months… Being back in the quarter-finals here means a lot to me. I don’t take anything for granted, and I feel like the level, when I play well, is there. If it wasn’t there, you couldn’t achieve these results.
“Today, I felt like my level was very high again, but in tennis, things can change very quickly. My next challenge, for example, is a completely different opponent than what I’ve had until now, so we’ll see how it goes.”
