Battling for the second time within a couple of days, Jannik and Taylor played for the trophy. Sinner dropped 13 points in ten service games, saving that lone break point and challenging his opponent to follow those numbers. The Italian grabbed 14 points behind the rival’s first serve and made the difference in that segment. World no. 1 finished the duel with 28 winners and 14 unforced errors.

He tamed his strokes nicely and kept his rival on a 19-16 ratio. Fritz landed three service winners more but lost the edge from the baseline, trailing 39-26 in the points from the back of the court. Jannik played better in the shortest, mid-range and most advanced exchanges, earning the title in style.

They served well early on. Two rivals traded holds at love in games two and three, and Jannik closed the fourth game with a forehand down the line winner. Taylor had to stay focused at 0-30 in the fifth game. He grabbed four straight points and landed a service winner for a 3-2 advantage.

Sinner produced another comfortable hold in the sixth game, drawing the opponent’s backhand mistake and leveling the score at 3-3 after 19 minutes. The home favorite stepped in on the return in the seventh game and earned two break chances after the rival’s loose forehand.

The American denied them with winners and climbed back to deuce. However, world no. 1 extended the game and generated a third break chance after Fritz’s double fault. Jannik wasted it after an entertaining point and denied Taylor’s game point for more drama.

The Italian landed a sharp return for a fourth break chance and converted it with a touchy drop shot winner, opening a 4-3 lead and moving in front. Sinner cemented the lead with a hold at love a few minutes later, landing a booming serve and settling into a fine rhythm.

Fritz grabbed the ninth game at love with an ace, extending the set and requiring a push on the return at 4-5. However, Sinner created a set point with an unreturned serve and squandered it after a forehand error. Suddenly, Taylor cracked a backhand down the line winner for a break chance.

Jannik erased it with a powerful serve and converted the second set point with another. Thus, he forged a 6-4 advantage after 41 minutes, gathering a boost ahead of set number two.

Jannik breaks again in the second set and lifts a trophy

Like in the opener, the servers were too strong in the first four games of the second set. Fritz set the ground for another fine service game in game five before missing a drop shot at 30-30 to experience a break point. He saved it with a strong serve but faced the second.

He played a loose forehand, losing serve and sending Sinner closer to the finish line. Jannik held at 30 in the sixth game with powerful backhands, cementing the break and standing two games from the top. Taylor reduced the gap with a hold at love in game seven and reached a deuce on the return in the next one.
