Rory McIlroy is ready for a new challenge in his career: An appearance at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The experienced golfer has been waiting for a victory at the Majors for years, and although he was within reach of the trophy at the US Open last year, his lack of concentration ultimately resulted in yet another failure at the Majors. Bryson DeChambeau took advantage of the momentum and won the US Open, much to the dismay of all Rory’s fans.
The 35-year-old climbed to second place on the OWGR list, which could be a huge motivator for him as the season continues. In front of him is Scottie Scheffler, a man many consider unassailable. It’s really hard to imagine that someone can dethrone the 28-year-old after an incredible season, but 2025 could change everything.
Of course, Rory will have to keep the second place, considering that Schauffele (previously the second player in the world) was absent for some time, but his return is expected.
Rory got off to a great start to the season with a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, delighted by a great start. At the end of the tournament, the experienced golfer stressed that winning on this golf course is really a huge thing.
The experienced name of the golf scene was not so impressive in the following, aware that the mental aspect is the biggest barrier to making even greater success in his career.
“It’s always been the mental side for me. That probably is the biggest barrier between me being good and being great.”
Rory McIlroy: What can we expect?
There is no doubt that what Rory is saying is actually true. However, it seems that he worked a lot on the mental aspect, wanting to finally raise the much-desired Majors this year. The priority will be the Masters, but other Majors trophies will not be unimportant to him either.
The 35-year-old is tired of press headlines, pressure from the media and fans. Is this the year in which he will finally take such an important step?
