Rory McIlroy expresses doubts on PIF-PGA Tour deal: “It takes two to tango”

Negotiations between PIF and the PGA Tour are still the main topic on the golf scene. It is difficult to give a real answer as to how long the negotiations will last, and whether both sides will reach a final deal, but optimistic messages from PGA officials and players give hope for a better tomorrow.

Tiger Woods and PGA commissioner, Jay Monahan, have pointed out many times so far that there is enormous optimism regarding this deal.

However, fans are interested in what Rory McIlroy, probably the biggest star of the PGA, has to say about this.

Before the tournament (Arnold Palmer Invitational), the experienced golfer was not so optimistic, causing doubts among golf fans. Rory stresses that it is tough unless both sides are open to negotiations.

“I think it takes two to tango,” McIlroy said, as reported by SB Nation.

“So if one party is willing and ready and the other isn’t, it sort of makes it tough.”

Rory McIlroy: The landscape might have looked a little different then

The Northern Irishman once again shocked the fans of this sport, saying that this deal is not necessary from the side of the PGA Tour. Namely, Rory had a lot of negative attitudes towards the controversial Tour, primarily due to the arrival of LIV, and after some time he said that LIV Golfers are welcome on the PGA Tour, with merger being the best option for everyone.

Rory has changed his position again, although this time he still feels that the merger is the ideal scenario for everyone.

“The landscape might have looked a little different then than it does now over these past couple of weeks,” McIlroy said.

“I think a deal would still be the — I think it would still be the ideal scenario for golf as a whole. But from a pure PGA Tour perspective, I don’t think it necessarily needs it.”-he concluded.

Does this mean we are still far from the final deal?
