Stephen A. Smith calls Tiger Woods a ‘recreational golfer’

Stephen A. Smith, a well-known sports TV personality and journalist, often uses the opportunity to comment on happenings in the world of sports, and this time he touched on Tiger Woods, the golf legend. His statements caused furious reactions among Tiger fans and those who love this sport in general.

The well-known commentator referred to Woods’ surgery a few days ago, and the fact that the 49-year-old has been absent from golf courses for a long time.

Smith labeled Tiger a ‘recreational golfer’ even though he has huge respect for him and his achievements. Smith went on to point out that watching Tiger, he doesn’t have the feeling that the legendary golfer will be successful.

‘I mean no disrespect. To me, Tiger Woods is a recreational golfer at this point,’ he said, as quoted by Daily Mail

‘We know how he’s the all-time greatest, we get that. But his health is so bad. He’s gone through so many physical tragedies.

I literally look at Tiger Woods and I don’t even think about his game, you know what I think about? One day, because that’s all you got. You walk 18 holes, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday – he ain’t making it.’- he continued.

Injuries: Consequences of a long career and a traffic accident

The career of this great golfer is filled with many injuries, and the long-term dominance and constant performances have taken their toll on his body. Experts from this sport often predicted, even when he was just taking his first steps on the golf scene, that the young golfer would feel enormous consequences for his body years later.

However, his performances on the golf tournaments are not the only reason for his injuries, remembering the traffic accident four years ago, when he almost lost his right leg.

Tiger, on the other hand, is motivated to return as soon as possible, although despite his strong desire, something always seems to get in the way of his recovery.
