The Serb debuted in Miami in 2006 at 18. He lifted a trophy a year later and marked the following decade in Florida. Between 2007 and 2016, Novak lifted six trophies at the Miami Open, matching Andre Agassi’s record and looking good to pass him in the upcoming years.
However, Djokovic has played only four matches at this tournament after his sixth title, embracing a 2-2 score and skipping the action since 2019! Novak withdrew from Miami in 2017 and fell to Benoit Paire and Roberto Bautista Agut in the next two years.

Many things have changed at a notable event since the veteran’s last trip to Florida. He will compete at Hard Rock Stadium for the first time after notching 44 victories at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne.
Novak is seeking his 100th ATP title and the first since last August. The legend conquered the Olympic Games gold medal in Paris last year, completing the game of tennis and losing motivation a bit. Djokovic played only a couple of tournaments by the end of 2024.

He returned his goals to Majors in 2025 and entered four tournaments ahead of Miami. The 24-time Major winner fell to Reilly Opelka in Brisbane and experienced a setback at the Australian Open. The ten-time winner defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-final.
However, he experienced a hamstring injury and retired three days later in the semi-final versus Alexander Zverev after the opening set. Novak took a couple of weeks off the court and returned to action in Doha. The Serb faced Matteo Berrettini in the first round and fell 7-6, 6-2.

Novak traveled to the USA and wished for a better run in Indian Wells. However, he fell in the second round to Botic van de Zandschulp, playing poor tennis in sets one and three and suffering his third straight defeat. Djokovic and Murray will work hard in the upcoming days in Miami.
Novak is still eager to challenge the rivals from the top and add more history to his tally, including the 100th ATP title and the 25th Major.
