Talking about the Laver Cup that will be played in Berlin, in a few days, the young Spaniard Carlitos Alcaraz analyzed the merits of the event founded by Roger Federer for the Australian legend Rod Laver.
Carlos believes that, even if the Laver Cup is a competition different from all the others, it is an event to be taken seriously.
“I like it, I have always wanted to be part of this tournament and I think this is a serious competition. I think we have to represent Europe in the best way possible, this tournament has a lot of prestige and winning the Laver Cup is definitely something very big,” he explained.
This tournament will feature some of the best tennis players in the world, although Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic will be missing. About this, Carlitos explained: “Well, it will be fun. We will laugh a lot and I think I will spend time with them without talking about tennis. It will definitely be different and I like different things.”

About Bjorn Borg’s last as Team Europe captain, Alcaraz said: “He is one of the players who brought tennis to the top and I hope to learn a lot from him, he is a legend of tennis and sports in general. My father is also a big fan of his, so being coached by Bjorn Borg will be a really important moment for me, for my career and for my life.”
2024 has been a pretty good year for the young Spaniard, who – despite some negative periods – has been the biggest protagonist in the clutch moments of the season, winning Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Not winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics certainly hurt the young 4-time Grand Slam champion, as did his subsequent defeat in the 2nd round of the US Open.
It must be said, however, that in recent days we have seen Alcaraz at ease and smiling during the Davis Cup, where he helped his Spain to reach the Finals in Malaga. A tournament that the Spanish champion will play at home with the goal of winning for the first time the oldest competition for national teams in the history of sport.
