Roger Federer arrived in Berlin for the 2024 edition of the Laver Cup, a tournament founded by the legendary Swiss to pay homage to former Australian champion Rod Laver.
This competition was – in 2022 – the scene of the last official appearance on a tennis court of the Swiss Maestro, who retired after the exciting doubles with his friend and rival of a thousand battles Rafael Nadal.
In recent days, Roger wanted to relive the emotions of the court, visiting the captains of the two teams, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe. The 20-time Slam champion reached the Uber Arena to warmly greet Borg and McEnroe and the next protagonists of the competition. In a video released by the Laver Cup account, the Swiss exchanged a few words with the captains, wishing them good luck and joking about the possibility of making some exchanges.

First the meeting with the 11-time Swedish Slam champion, then the visit on the court to the former American legend, amid smiles and a little chat. Federer is (along with Alexander Zverev, who will surpass him this year) the European tennis player with the most participation in the competition (4). Roger achieved three triumphs with Team Europe, to which is added the emotion of that last match on a tennis court played in London.
The event will bring together some of the best talents in world tennis and has reached its seventh edition, in which Team Europe, captained by Borg, challenges Team World, led by McEnroe. This year too, the event – scheduled for September 20-22 – promises to be a great show, with the European team, which will be able to count on players such as Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Flavio Cobolli, called upon to avenge the defeats of the last two editions.
