Roger Federer, founder of the Laver Cup, has just arrived in Berlin for the 7th edition of the tournament that bears the name of the Australian legend Rod Laver.
The Swiss Maestro told a curious anecdote about himself and Carlos Alcaraz and expressed his intention to apologize to the Spanish tennis player – this week in Berlin – stressing how he can’t wait to see the Roland Garros and Wimbledon 2024 champion in action.
“I barely know Carlitos, so I’m really excited to see him play for the first time here. I’ve only trained with him once, at Wimbledon, when he was still a junior, and then the next day, my coach asked me if I wanted to warm up with him again. I said no, that I’d rather warm up with his coach, who was from my generation: Juan Carlos Ferrero. This week I definitely want to apologize to Carlos for that situation,” said the Swiss Maestro.

Federer also added that he is excited to see Alexander Zverev play at the Uber Arena in front of the German home crowd.
“I think it will be a great thing for him, as it was for me when I played in Geneva in Switzerland,” said Roger, who also added that he has wonderful memories of this event that in 2022 saw the end of his career.
That said, Roger has already arrived in Berlin. Over the weekend, from Friday to Sunday, there will be the Laver Cup, a team event in which a Europe team and a World team will oppose each other. And the 2024 edition will see among the protagonists, among others, the 4-time Slam champion Alcaraz.
