Jannik has been the dominant figure in men’s tennis this year, winning 65 of 71 matches and lifting the Tour-leading seven ATP titles, including five notable ones. The Italian has forged a vast 4800 ATP points lead over his closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, securing the year-end no. 1 honor and many more weeks at the top. The two-time Major winner stands one week before Mats Wilander’s 20 no. 1 weeks and will match the great Swede following Monday. After that, no one will be between Sinner and Alcaraz, with the Spaniard standing on 36 weeks on the ATP throne. Jannik will almost certainly keep Carlos behind after next year’s Australian Open despite defending 2000 ATP points. The Italian bounced back in Shanghai, lifting the fourth Masters 1000 title over Novak Djokovic and adding 1000 ATP points to his already impressive tally. Jannik elevated his game in the second part of 2023, reaching the Wimbledon semi-final and barely losing a match in the closing stages of the year. Sinner added two ATP 500 titles to his tally and lifted the Davis Cup trophy for Italy, the first since 1976! More importantly, Jannik ousted world no. 1 Novak Djokovic two times within ten days, gathering momentum and preparing an ultimate charge in 2024. The Italian scored his first victory over the Serb at the ATP Finals and denied three match points in the Davis Cup semi-final, which gave him a considerable boost. Sinner entered the 2024 season as one of the Australian Open favorites, proving that on the court and lifting his first Major crown at 22. The young gun faced the ten-time champion Djokovic in the semi-final and dethroned the legend in four sets.

Stefanos Tsitsipas delivered Sinner’s second loss of the season in Monte Carlo after a massive battle, and the Italian withdrew from Madrid ahead of the quarter-final due to a hip injury. Jannik could not compete in front of the home fans in Rome, taking care of his body and playing well at Roland Garros.

Sinner fell to Alcaraz in the semi-final but earned enough points to dethrone Novak Djokovic and become the 29th ATP world no. 1. Jannik extended his ATP 500 streak in Halle, adding 500 ATP points to his tally and keeping his closest rivals behind ahead of Wimbledon.
