DP World, again a partner of the Ryder Cup

Yesterday, Ryder Cup Europe and PGA of America announced that DP World, a world leader in the logistics market, has become a Worldwide Partner of the Ryder Cup.

The agreement binds the multinational to the two organizing bodies until the 2027 edition (which will be held at the Adare Manor Golf Resort, Editor’s note).

I think there is no need to introduce DP World.

DP, news

Almost three years have passed since the announcement that changed the fate of the European Tour, by virtue of the agreement with the multinational controlled by the government of Dubai.

The birth of the DP World Tour, following the conclusion of the strategic alliance with the PGA Tour, has significantly changed the prospects of European professional golf, but the appearance of LIV Golf has introduced an unforeseen variable into its path.

The dress rehearsal of the partnership between DP World and the Ryder Cup was held on the occasion of the edition played at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, which saw the triumph of Team Europe as the culmination of intense organizational work.

DP World was responsible for delivering the equipment that provided the event’s energy needs, mobility scooters for spectators with limited mobility and two dozen containers that moved tons of cargo for the event.

Danny van Otterdijk, Chief Communications Officer of DP World, said:

“We are proud to extend our partnership with one of the most prestigious events in world sport”

“The Ryder Cup is a perfect fit for DP World, as we both share a commitment to excellence, innovation and connecting with a global audience”

“We are proud to have collaborated in ensuring a seamless and rapid service for the Ryder Cup in 2023, and as we continue to discuss how we can contribute to the future logistics of this iconic event, we are increasingly excited to enhance the fan experience and contribute to the continued success of the Ryder Cup in 2025 and beyond”.

Richard Atkinson, Ryder Cup Director of the European Tour, said:

“The Ryder Cup has grown to become one of the world’s premier sporting events and, as a result, has reached a high level of organisational complexity”

“DP World’s vast experience in managing the service chain is highly valued by Ryder Cup Europe, the PGA of America and our partners. They have helped us deliver a truly unforgettable event in Rome that has broken previous records”

“We are always aiming to improve the fan experience, and New York in 2025 provides the perfect stage to do so”

“We look forward to working closely with DP World over the next two editions”.

Jeff Price, Chief Commercial Officer of the PGA of America, concluded:

“As we have seen in 2023, DP World has been an invaluable partner in helping us grow the Ryder Cup experience on a global scale.”

“We look forward to continuing this successful partnership as we move toward Bethpage Black in 2025, with our sights set on 2027.”

With the confirmation of this agreement, DP World is undoubtedly consolidating its position within the Ryder Cup.

Considering, at the same time, its position within the former European Tour, it is difficult for me not to think that all of this could lead, in the future, to a Ryder Cup played in the Middle East.

The Rules of Golf are a set of rules and standard procedures by which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and administered by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body of golf throughout the world, except in the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association. An expert committee, made up of members of the R&A and the USGA, oversees and refines the Rules every four years. The latest revision was effective January 1, 2016. Changes to the Rules of Golf generally fall into two main categories: those that improve understanding of the Rules and those that reduce penalties in certain cases to ensure balance. The rulebook, entitled “The Rules of Golf,” is published on a regular basis and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy, the Federgolf is responsible for supervising competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R & A, checking that these rules are observed by the Clubs, Associations and their members and managing the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
