Jannik Sinner will not play the Paris Rolex Masters. The Italian tennis player suddenly announced his withdrawal from the last ATP Masters 1000 of the season, due to a presumed intestinal virus, deciding to skip the Parisian event. Jannik was supposed to face the winner between Ben Shelton and a qualifier, after a bye in the first round, but the Italian will head directly to Turin for the ATP Finals. This obviously changes the draw, with Carlos Alcaraz becoming the number one favorite for the final victory.
Jannik did not have many points to defend, given that last year he also withdrew after a few rounds due to a particular situation (the match ended late at night, which generated a lot of controversy – ed.). The Italian will lose just 80 points in the ATP ranking (the eighth-finals reached last year) but could see the gap between himself and Alcaraz, the big favorite for the final victory of the Parisian event, narrow. The Spaniard is looking for the necessary points between Paris-Bercy and the ATP Finals to project himself into 2025 with the chance of being able to overtake Sinner in the ATP ranking, considering that the Italian will have to defend 2000 points in Melbourne, while Carlitos, until the start of the clay-swing and in particular of the French Open, will have fewer points to defend, compared to the Italian.
Jannik will be able to take advantage of the additional two weeks of break to arrive with more energy in Turin and the Davis Cup Finals (both events scheduled around mid-November).
“It’s not an easy announcement to make. My team and I arrived early to prepare ourselves as best as possible, but unfortunately I started to feel unwell during training and on Sunday I had to see the doctor. We found out that I had a virus. I feel better now, but I’m not ready to compete here in Paris yet. I was really looking forward to this tournament, so I’m very sorry and disappointed. For now I’m focusing on recovery and getting back to 100% shape. I’ll aim to come back stronger in Turin,” said Sinner through a post X.

For the ATP No.1, therefore, focus on these last tournaments and then on 2025, as stated by coach Simone Vagnozzi who just a few hours ago said: “Alongside Jannik Sinner, winning Wimbledon would be the consecration. A charm and a tradition that you don’t breathe elsewhere. I want to dream again,” he said.
