Carlos Alcaraz uses a smart expedient to win the ATP Finals

According to Marca, the Ferrero Tennis Academy – Carlos Alcaraz’s training facility where the 21-year-old Spaniard will prepare for the season-ending events – has installed the same surface where will be played the ATP Finals in Turin, in its covered pavilion, to help Carlitos get used to the surface where the year-end Masters will be played, which is the same surface that will also be used for the Davis Cup finals.

The new court at the Villena club, made by GreenSet (the same brand that produces the Davis Cup courts – ed.), was installed in October and has already been tested by both Alcaraz and his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero. A ploy to get ready for the last commitments of the year: this is what the important changes to the Ferrero Tennis Academy will be for.

The final part of season of the 4-time Slam champion will basically be in Turin and Malaga. Eliminated by Ugo Humbert in the round of 16 of the ATP Paris Rolex Masters, in which Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic did not take part, the Spanish tennis player will be among the eight protagonists of the ATP Nitto Finals, scheduled from 10 to 17 November in Turin. Just two days later, it is already time to think about the national team, with the commitment to the Davis Cup Finals with the Spain jersey, alongside Rafael Nadal. In Malaga, Carlitos and his teammates will face the Netherlands in the quarterfinals and dream of lifting the Salad Bowl in front of their fans, in the last dance of the champion from Manacor.

In Paris-Bercy Carlitos lost a position both in the ATP ranking and in the Race to Turin. Alexander Zverev in fact overtook him in both rankings. The Spaniard surrendered in the round of 16 against Frenchman Ugo Humbert, playing poorly in the first set and experiencing a blank in the most important moment of the decisive set.

Thinking about Alcaraz’s recent performances and the Masters Tournament, former Italian tennis player Paolo Bertolucci expressed his opinion on the young Spaniard in an interview with Sky Sport.

“Carlos said that in Paris he gave the best of what he can offer now. If the level is the same in Turin, well he will have a big problem to solve. In two weeks, however, many things can change. Of course against Humbert in Bercy he played his worst match of the year. His ambitions are clear: Alcaraz wants Sinner’s throne, he is not satisfied with being number two or number three. It is obvious that he can never be satisfied but he is caged in this very spectacular and overflowing game of his that only works when he is well. If he is going at full speed it is impossible to beat him, but he still has some very evident ups and downs. When he stutters it becomes a problem for him and if you want to become number one in the world you cannot allow this,” he said.
