Coco Gauff urges young people to vote for US Presidential elections

According to the latest polls, there would be a substantial head-to-head between the two candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris for the US Presidential elections, which will be held tomorrow Tuesday 5 November 2024, and Coco Gauff has urged young people to vote.

The Republican candidate has caught up with her opponent in Pennsylvania while the current vice president is ahead in Iowa. In fear of riots, protective barriers have been erected around the White House, Capitol Hill and the Naval Observatory, the residence of Vice President Kamala Harris

In an interview with The National – in the middle of the WTA Finals in Riyadh – the young American tennis player has urged her peers to vote, saying she is proud to have voted for the first time in her life.

“Obviously, I’ve voted in the past in multiple state and local elections, but this is my first time voting in a presidential election. Being able to do your part has been really cool and inspiring. I don’t think it’s going to affect me when I play. It’s November 5th, so the 6th here, it’s going to be a very anxious day that day. All I can do is encourage people, especially young people, to vote and use their voice. Especially in my generation, there’s a lot of people who don’t see the power of voting. For me, yeah. I voted. I’ve posted content to try to encourage people to vote. I definitely think about that. It’s a tough time for our country, a tough time for our country right now,” she said.

In the same interview, Coco talked about how she sometimes likes to respond to the critics who sometimes crucify her, explaining: “Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes I want to respond, but I just try to remember, when I win, I’ll be like, that’s going to be my return. So I see that. It motivates me. I feel like, just certain comments, I imagine maybe another player could do the same thing as me and I get crucified for that and they get applauded. I honestly think maybe just because of how I came on the scene, people are very critical of me. I take that as a compliment. Maybe they’re critical of people who think they can do better, so I just try to be better.”
