Emma Raducanu shares confidence for her Billie Jean King Cup Finals path

Emma Raducanu is trying to find the right balance between tennis and private life, especially after the serious injuries and the three surgeries of spring 2023. The British player, together with her countrywomen, will be one of the protagonists of her team at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga, where she will try to close her 2024 with dignity.

Emma, who won the 2021 US Open, has shown some physical progress this season, after the troubles of last season, but she is still far from the form shown in those shining weeks in New York three years ago, when she amazed the world. That has been one great show so far, because since then the tennis player has obtained more consensus in terms of sponsors and marketing than results. But as I have often said, this is normal, for a young girl like Emma who needs to balance court and private life, and there is nothing wrong with that.

The latest injury suffered in Seoul, South Korea in the quarterfinals of the tournament, will not prevent the British player from stepping on the court at the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena for the Billie Jean King Finals with her Great Britain.

In the media day of the tournament, she explained how she thinks she has always done well in this competition, hoping to perform well also in the Finals.

“Playing for my country, I think I did really well in France and that got me some really good things. So, I hope to try and do the same here. Even though my season ended a little early in Seoul, I would like to do well in this tournament. It’s the end of the season and I know the other girls have had a really long season, they’ve basically just finished. Katie Boulter had a great run in Asia towards the end and I’m sure she’s feeling really confident,” she explained.

In the meantime, these days the young British player also celebrated her 22nd birthday and, to mark the occasion, she shared a photo on Instagram, in which she wrote the caption: “22! Thank you for all the birthday wishes, I’m so grateful for all my friends too (who I couldn’t all add here) for pouring extra love into today and being there through it all! Big s/o to my team for making it a special day out here.”
