Alexander Zverev highlights he has nothing but respect and appreciation for Boris Becker but also underlines that he would need a full-time traveling commitment before starting discussions about a possible partnership.
While the world No. 2 has accomplished some pretty notable things, he has yet to win a Grand Slam title despite being a two-time finalist on the Major level. And in Germany, some think the former six-time Grand Slam champion could be exactly what the 27-year-old needs to make that final leap and win on the biggest stage.
Currently, Zverev works with his father and he also often accompanied by his brother Mischa. In the past, the German had a stint with Juan Carlos Ferrero that didn’t end well and he also collaborated with Sergi Bruguera until mid-2023.
On the other side, Becker famously worked with Novak Djokovic for three years between 2013 and 2016. In his most recent ATP Tour gig, the former world No. 1 started working with Holger Rune in late 2023 but they split shortly after this year’s Australian Open.

Zverev on the prospect of working with Becker
“I love Boris and I also believe that he has an incredible knowledge of tennis. But I don’t know how he feels about traveling. That’s the only question mark for him. As soon as he has solved and clarified that, we can talk about it. We are always in contact with him and often talk to each other. Now for Australia, it will stay as it is and then I will see,” the 2024 French Open runner-up told tennis MAGAZIN.
Also, the 27-year-old made it clear that he only hires those who he considers “the right person.”
“The right person has to be there. I won’t just take anyone just because I or others think it’s right. I did it, I tried to work with many people. But I found that only one person really helped me a lot,” Zverev noted.
