Rennae Stubbs thinks Simona Halep is damaging her reputation by publicly bashing Iga Swiatek as Serena Williams’ former coach thinks the Romanian is acting “angrily” and directing frustration at someone who doesn’t deserve it.
On November 27th, the ITIA announced that the world No. 2 failed a doping test but that it was caused due to the contamination of melatonin medication.
Also, it was revealed that the four-time French Open was provisionally suspended for 22 days – was allowed to return to action during the WTA Finals – before accepting a one-month ban, with only eight more days left to serve.
Shortly after those news were revealed, Halep made strong accusations against the ITIA in an Instagram, claiming they treated Swiatek’s case completely differently.
A few days later, the two-time Grand Slam champion stood firm in her comments, this time asking why the Pole’s case was “kept in the dark but embarrassed me.”

Stubbs: Halep is angry, but if anything, be angry at the system not Swiatek
“I am a bit surprised by Halep going hard though, publicly. I don’t think that’s a good look for her. I think she’s just, she’s angry obviously, but don’t be angry at Iga, be angry at the system,” the former doubles world No. 1 said on the Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast.
“Like she’s, you know, there’s a lot of players that are being angry at the player, be angry at the system. It’s not, it wasn’t their fault. They play within the rules. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be playing right now.”
During an appearance on a Polish television, Swiatek was asked to address the claims that her case was treated differently.
Answering the question, the 23-year-old didn’t want to bash Halep or anything like that but she dismissed her criticism by stating that each doping case is “completely different.”
