JUST IN: Nick Kyrgios rips Jannik Sinner, Iga Swiatek doping cases as ‘disgusting’

Nick Kyrgios slammed the Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek doping cases as “disgusting” and “horrible” ahead of his ATP comeback.

Anyone who has been regularly following tennis for the past couple of months, knows extremely well that the 2022 Wimbledon finalist has been very sharp in his criticism of the two high-profile doping cases.

On Saturday, the 29-year-old met with reporters at the Brisbane International.

And when asked why he felt a certain way about Sinner and Swiatek, Kyrgios suggested that they should have done better as one of the best in the game.

“Two world No.1s both getting done for doping is disgusting for our sport. It’s a horrible look. Tennis integrity right now, and everyone knows it, but no one wants to speak about it, it’s awful,” the seven-time ATP champion said.

Kyrgios: I could have benefited from a banned substance but I’d never do that

In the last two years, the Australian tennis star had surgery to repair his knee and wrist. That resulted in him playing just one official match during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

When making his point about Sinner and Swiatek, the former world No. 13 also said that a prohibited substance could have enhanced his recovery but doing something like that never crossed his mind.

“Someone like me … I would never even in my entire life ever try and dope in this sport,” Kyrgios added.

“Especially going through an injury like I went through, obviously there are things out there that could speed up healing, help me get back to prime level, help my recovery.

“There’s so many things out there that are prohibited in our sport that I could have been doing to get me back quicker … (but) that’s just not who I am. I’m always against that.”

Meanwhile, Kyrgios is set to meet Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the Brisbane first round.
