Carlos Alcaraz sent a clear message to all his rivals at the Australian Open 2025: the victory in straight sets for 6-0 6-1 6-4 against Yoshihito Nishioka in the 2nd round of the tournament does not fully convey the total dominance of the Spaniard over the Japanese. The 4-time Slam champion conceded only 5 games to his opponent, collecting 100% of points on the first serve.
During the second set, Nishioka, disheartened by the clear superiority of his rival, turned to his corner exclaiming: “If you want, you can try it.”
A phrase dictated by the frustration of the moment, but which also makes you understand how difficult it is to play against Alcaraz, when he is on form.

5 games dropped
Barely broke a sweat
Some very scary tennis

At the press conference, Carlitos touched on a series of interesting topics, including not having played two consecutive games on the center and most important court of the event.
“I give priority to the calendar issue before the court. Rod Laver Arena is wonderful and it’s where you’ll play the last rounds, but Margaret Court for me is a splendid court. It’s incredible, I play very well, for now.
In these first rounds I prefer it, so if I win I can have more time to rest and not accumulate fatigue with the issue of the program, being able to rest better at night. I don’t like playing at night, because I go to bed late and accumulate few hours of sleep. I prefer to play during the day session, because after the match I can recover much better and go to sleep earlier,” he said.
The Spaniard also talked about rice star Joao Fonseca, analyzing: “I watched him a little bit. I couldn’t see the whole match, but I could watch the beginning and the end. What can I say? Just incredible. The way he played in his first match in a Slam tournament against a top 10 player was impressive.
The way he approached the match, managed everything, calmed his nerves in the delicate moments was fantastic. He only has one Slam victory, but soon we will add the name of Joao Fonseca to the list of the best players in the world.”
