Aryna Sabalenka gets real about what motivates her in toughest moments

Aryna Sabalenka has qualified for the 4th round of the Australian Open 2025.

The champion of the last two editions of the Happy Slam eliminated the Danish Clara Tauson 7-6 6-4.

In the round of 16 the Belarusian will face Mirra Andreeva, in what will be one of the most interesting matches of the 2nd week.

The WTA No.1, at the press conference, analyzed what motivates her to keep going during a tough match.

“I remember how much I wanted it when I was a child. Then I look in the box. I see all those people sitting there, encouraging me, helping me to realize my dreams. I can’t just give up,” she said.

Sabalenka has won 18 of 20 matches played on Rod Laver Arena, and it is precisely about this statistic that the Belarusian revealed:

“I still have to give my best, if not my best tennis, my best fighting spirit. The atmosphere helps me a lot here. I would say I have earned, I don’t know, my people here over the years. Now every time I’m out there, I really feel all the support.

It’s incredible. It’s a dream. That’s why I’m probably so motivated every time I’m out there. Honestly, the statistics are incredible. It’s like, Wow. If someone had told me five years ago that I would get to this point, I would have said, Okay, whatever, let’s take it one

step at a time. It’s not like knowing that statistic will help me to keep winning. I still have to get there. I still have to, as you see, fight for every point. I have to bring my best tennis. If not the best tennis, then the best fighting spirit. I take it one step at a time. I’m trying to focus on myself.”
