Coach Darren Cahill reveals that Andre Agassi admires very much Jannik Sinner’s game and also shared that the American tennis icon even gave some tips and advice to the current world No. 1.
Over two decades ago, the Australian coach guided Agassi to the 2003 Australian Open title and he also helped him become at the time the oldest player to be ranked at No. 1.

Now, the 59-year-old is doing major things with Sinner, who has won two Grand Slams and reached the world No. 1 ranking for the first time in his career since the Australian joined his team.
Since Cahill worked with the former eight-time Grand Slam champion in the last four years of the American’s career, they kept a good relationship even though the 54-year-old hasn’t been seen much among the tennis circles since retiring.
“We spoke to Andre today by coincidence. He’s a big fan of Jannik’s, loves the ways he plays,” the Australian coach shared.
“Always hearing words from him about what he sees from Jannik’s game and where the improvements are coming from and where he still feels there could be more improvement in Jannik’s game.”
Cahill: Sinner is on his way to becoming a great champion like Agassi
If the Italian tennis star beats Alexander Zverev in Sunday’s final at the Australian Open, he will become a three-time Grand Slam champion seven months before his 24th birthday.
And if he continues this way, there are all the reasons to believe that the Sinner could reach Agassi’s Slam heights or do even more.
“Andre is an incredible champion of the game who won eight majors, every major and a gold medal. So Jannik is far from that. He’s on the way, like a couple of other players as well. There are similarities but they’re also very different people,” Cahill noted.
Meanwhile, the 59-year-old Australian coach made a surprising announcement at the start of the Australian Open when he shared that he and the Italian would split after this season.
