During a tight three-set win over home favorite Destanee Aiava in the second round, the world No. 12 was going back and forth with the spectators.
Throughout the match, the Melbourne crowd was heavily on the Australian player’s side.
But the issue Collins had was that she felt the Australian Open crowd was stepping over the line and being disrespectful.
So after telling the crowd to “shut up” during the match, the American 31-year-old taunted them following her win, saying she was going to take that “fat cheque” and treat herself with a really nice vacation.
In her latest Instagram post, she uploaded a minute-and-a-half-long post, sharing how life looks for her these days.
What Collins said after her incident with the Australian Open crowd?
“One of the greatest things about being a professional athlete is the people that don’t like you and the people that hate you, they actually pay your bills. It’s kind of a cool concept,” the former world No. 7 said after the match.
“Obviously, my professional career is not going to last forever. So I just remind myself every day when I have that kind of stuff, they’re paying my bills.
“Every person that’s bought a ticket to come out here and heckle me or do what they do, it’s all going towards the Danielle Collins Fund.
“Yeah, bring it on. I love it. Me and my group of girlfriends love a five-star vacation.
“I can guarantee you that cheque is going to go towards our next five-star trip, hopefully to the Bahamas.”
