Belinda Bencic’s husband and fitness trainer Martin Hromkovic was extremely emotional following the Swiss’ Abu Dhabi triumph as he cried tears of happiness while holding their daughter.
Last April, the former world No. 4 welcomed her first child after a baby girl Bella was born.
10 months later, the Swiss tennis star claimed her first WTA title as a mother after beating Ashlyn Krueger 4-6 6-1 6-1 in the Abu Dhabi final.
For Bencic, it was one of the most special triumphs of her career – although it’s from the WTA 500 category.
And her husband was as emotional as she was.

Bencic’s message to her family
By winning Abu Dhabi, the Swiss became the first mother on the WTA Tour to win a title since Elina Svitolina won Strasbourg in 2023 May.
Now, she has 10 WTA titles in her collection.
“To my husband and my daughter Bella, I love you so much,” the 27-year-old said.
“It was a big dream for me to come back and play in front of her and to win the tournament.”
After dropping her serve four times in the first set, Bencic stabilized and dominated the rest of the match.
Following her win, the former world No. 4 admitted that seeing her daughter in the stands gave her extra motivation to find a way to win.
“Obviously big emotions, of course. It was a tough final,” the Swiss admitted.
“I feel like I needed to put [on] my turbo in the second and third set. It was a really special moment, seeing Bella there in the third set.”
Meanwhile, it has been a dream post-pregnancy comeback for Bencic so far, who is 12-3 in 2025.
