Naomi Osaka is set to highlight the return of women’s tennis to the Queen’s Club as the HSBC Championships organizers announced the former world No. 1 as a participant of this year’s tournament.
This year, the Queen’s Club is set to host a WTA tournament for the first time since 1973.
The WTA 500 tournament will take place the week after the French Open – between June 09-15 – while ATP Queen’s will run in its usual date and be held between June 16-22.
When it was confirmed that Queen’s would also host a women’s tournament in 2025, the decision was met with a lot of excitement.
And with Osaka signing up for the event, it is clear that the organizers are keen on having a very strong and exciting player field for their comeback year.
Osaka: Proud to be a part of WTA Queen’s
“To be a part of the first women’s event at the LTA’s HSBC Championships in over 50 years is exciting and something that makes me incredibly proud,” the former world No. 1 said.
“It’s very special to compete at an historic venue like The Queen’s Club, and with the strength of the women’s game right now, it’s going to be a fantastic event.”

Before launching her post-pregnancy return last year, the four-time Grand Slam champion said that she would focus on getting better on grass and clay.
And last season, she competed on grass for the first time 2019.
In her return to grass courts, Osaka reached the ‘s-Hertogenbosch quarterfinal – exited Berlin in the first round – and bowed out of Wimbledon in the second round.
This year, the 27-year-old will certainly be hoping to further elevate her grass game and also make some noise.
“I feel great in my game. I’m looking forward to the challenge and I will give everything to lift that title this summer,” Osaka added.
