NBC reporter senses anxiety among players ahead of PGA-LIV agreement

The covers of golf magazines are full of headlines about the final deal between the PGA Tour and PIF. It seems as if we were never closer to a final agreement, even though it has been a long time since the last deadline when they were supposed to reach an agreement.

Yesterday’s meeting between PGA Tour representatives and LIV representatives, as well as Donald Trump in the White House produced various reactions and theories.

Journalists and experts from this field around the world reacted to the latest information, having various explanations and predictions regarding the future of this sport.

NBC reporter, Damon Hack gave an interesting analysis, stressing that he noticed a huge anxiety among the players. The popular reporter feels that many of them are under stress, aware of the possible outcomes.

“There is a great sense of anxiety which I am feeling among the players. We are so close to where they are staying; we are in the same hotel, and I am sharing water taxis with the players from the hotel to the driving range,” Hack said, as quoted by The Golfing Gazette.

“I have been having conversations even before this news came out. There is a sense of stress at the possibilities. I spoke to Joe Highsmith on the boat ride over; he is well aware of the narrowing pathways and the value of a week like this. And knowing that you might play this week and maybe not get to play for a couple more weeks.”

Mexico Open

This week, PGA Tour golfers will compete in the Mexico Open, aiming to earn FedEx Cup points. The lesser-known faces of this Tour are aware that the final deal can change a lot for them. It is natural for most of them to be nervous, under enormous stress, because their future is still in question.

Their future is being directed by famous faces on both sides, as well as the US president, but we still have to wait and see what the new day really brings.

“When they are hearing the likes of Rory McIlroy and the best players in the world talk about smaller fields and these elevated signature events and national opens, I get the sense that a lot of the players in this field know that’s code for this does not include you. A week like this can change a lot of these things for a lot of these players. Make no mistake, they know what is at stake this week and how valuable a week like the Mexico Open is for them and their future.”- he concluded.

The situation has been alarming for a long time, and it was expected that someone would take matters into their own hands, and who better person to do it than Donald Trump.

The US president is passionate about golf, and at the same time tired of the darkness that has descended on the golf scene. He decided to resolve the doubts, conflicts and put an end to the difficult period.

Will he succeed? It remains to be seen.
