Shane Lowry admits Ryder Cup experience is unlike anything else in golf

Shane Lowry has a huge motive to succeed this year, especially when we know that perhaps the most popular golf competition, the Ryder Cup, is being played in September this year. During the interview for the Sky Sports Golf podcast, the experienced golfer emphasized the Majors and the Ryder Cup, but it seems that the Irishman’s biggest focus is on the Ryder Cup.

The 37-year-old explains that playing on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour you mostly encounter the same things week after week, but the Ryder Cup is a completely different experience than anything else.

Lowry admits that he enjoys the whole atmosphere before the Ryder Cup.

“We’re so used to the grind, week in, week out, on the PGA Tour or the DP World Tour, where you’re on your own, trying to shoot the score yourself,” Lowry said, as quoted by Irish Independent.

“Things don’t go well, you’re letting yourself down. Or if things go well, you’re just with yourself, your caddy and maybe your team.

But you get to week, and even the build-up (is fantastic), and I think that based on what Luke has done, he’s made it a team.

Even before the last one, the practice trip, and us all hanging out together at Wentworth and in Ireland, the enjoyment of the whole week was just incredible.”

Shane Lowry reflect on the earlier editions

Lowry looked back on earlier editions of this competition, especially Whistling Straits, where his team did not excel, but he admits that it was one of the best weeks in his life. However, a few years later, the Europeans celebrated in Italy, to the general amazement of everyone.

Shane stresses that he doesn’t just want to be part of the team, but that the goal is to be part of a winning team.

He did not forget to mention the captain Luke Donald either, believing that this will be one of the best prepared European teams so far.
