The one in Nuevo Vallarta is the first title for the almost 32-year-old Californian professional from Orange County. A success that brings him a prize of $1,260,000, or four times what he has earned so far on the circuit. And it doesn’t end there: Campbell flies to twelfth place in the FedEx Cup and gives himself the chance to play key events such as the Augusta Masters, the PGA Championship and The Players.

The American won the Mexico Open, with a birdie on the second hole of the play-off, beating the South African Aldrich Potgieter in a photo finish. The two had closed the match on par with a score of 264 strokes (-20).

“I can’t believe it, I’m speechless. In 2021 I considered quitting. Now I’m here enjoying this exploit. It’s incredible how, in golf, things can change quickly,” Campbell expressed his satisfaction at the end of the day.

At his 28th start on the PGA Tour and at the age of 31 years, 11 months and 17 days, the golfer from Orange County has thus fulfilled the dream of a lifetime.

A complicated week for the Azzurri. Francesco Molinari, ninth at the end of the first round, closed the match in 49th place with 277 (66 68 72 71, -7) ahead of Matteo Manassero, 68th with 282 (72 67 68 75, +4). The Turin native, after two consecutive eliminations, still managed to reverse the trend.

For the Venetian, the consolation of having played three tournaments on the top US circuit this year without ever making the cut.

The rules of golf are relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are played outdoors, close to nature and animals. Respecting the rules is a basic element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on self-control and the free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, sometimes consciously, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to the non-observance by many players of the rules of the game. In addition to the rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the game with due respect for the golf course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport.
