Jordan Spieth exits PGA Tour board meeting with a dramatic mic-drop moment

Jordan Spieth is no longer a member of the PGA Tour Policy Board, with questions about his future and successor looming. The golfing icon was part of the advisory board meeting two days ago.

However, what surprised everyone was that Spieth threw down the microphone and left the room at the start of the meeting.

Spieth revealed that he was part of the meeting, a little taken aback by the turn of events.

“I was on [Monday’s] meeting to get through the governance for Camilo [Villegas] essentially to roll over into the player and enterprises board,” Spieth said, as quoted by SB Nation.

“After that, I couldn’t tell you [what happened].”

Spieth on the Tour Championship

Camilo Villegas, an experienced golfer from Columbia, replaced Spieth on the PGA Tour Enterprises board, becoming director of players on the advisory board. Besides him, the other directors are Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Peter Malnati, Patrick Cantlay, as well as Webb Simpson.

Spieth, just like his colleagues and fans, was not particularly impressed with many things on the PGA. This time the accent was on the Tour Championship. The American golfer believes that it is important to create an excitement factor for everyone, and make efforts to move in that direction.

“I think the idea is just to make the fan experience the best, make NBC, get them very involved in what they think is going to be the best option, and ideally, you end up having the most exciting Saturday-Sunday situation that’s easy to follow with the most drama you can have that goes all the way down to the last hole,” Spieth said, putting an accent on the Tour Championship.

The experienced golfer mentioned two versions and two scenarios when it comes to the Tour Championship, unsure whether either will see the light of day.

Jordan Spieth is not sure whether the PGA’s changes in 2026 will turn out to be positive, stressing that it is most important that sponsors, networks and fans are included in this story.
