Jason Day names the player with world number one potential

Jason Day, a well-known name in the golf scene, is a golfer who is always ready to help his colleagues, especially the younger ones. The Australian was an important mentor to Min Woo Lee, a 26-year-old golfer who also hails from Australia.

Full Swing was a chance for this great duo to share emotions about each other, recalling some of the moments.

Woo Lee stressed that Day was open to being his mentor since Lee was a teenager. The young golfer recalled one particular moment, which caused a reaction among the golfers in attendance.

“Jason Day, he’s put me under his wing actually,” said Woo Lee, as quoted by The Golfing Gazette.

“When I was 16 or 17, I had a tournament at junior invitational, and he was a guest speaker.

We ended up having a long drive comp, and all the juniors next me were like, ‘you should do it’, because I was one of the longest out there.

And he hit first, and he hit it, I don’t know, maybe like 280, 290 yards. And then I stepped up with his driver and smoked it. As soon as I hit it, all the boys were like, ‘ohh’, like they knew it was past his.”- Lee said.

Jason Day reacts

Day stressed that Woo Lee is a great golfer who has tremendous strength.

The Australian says if he did it now, he would break his back in half.

However, he was impressed that Min Woo Lee could do it, especially impressed by his self-confidence.

“Look at him, he’s a little cocky there, he was walking off like high-fiving someone it looked like. But I felt that golf was moving too fast for me, watching him hit a driver.”- he said.

It is obvious that there is a huge respect between the two of them.

In the end, Day pointed out that this golfer has the potential to become world number 1, but that he must primarily make lifestyle changes.
