Watch: Daniil Medvedev furiously destroys racket after stunning Dubai loss

Daniil Medvedev capped off his rough day at the office by absolutely obliterating his racket moments after a shock defeat to Tallon Griekspoor.

After routinely winning the first set, the No. 1 seed appeared to be heading toward registering a straight-set quarterfinal win.

But then, the Russian missed out on four match points late in the second set before the world No. 43 went on to complete a stunning 2-6 7-6 (7) 7-5 win.

And after suffering another disappointing defeat and falling to a subpar 8-5 record in 2025, Medvedev lost his cool.

Before this incident, the 29-year-old also had a tense moment with Adel Nour after losing the second set, accusing the chair umpire of having “double standards against the Russians.”

Medvedev got back to complaining about the balls

By now, everyone pretty much knows extremely well how the 2021 US Open champion feels about the balls used on the Tour.

Again, he slammed the balls as “very slow” and repeated that it is putting him in a disadvantageous position.

“It was ridiculous how slow the balls were. I do not understand how it’s not 5-7 (games) ball change in the ATP Tour. I don’t get it,” Medvedev said.

“The balls, when they fly through the air slower, get an advantage to guys who volleys because they have more time to react, to adapt to a shot that is going to them when they had more time, and that’s a big disadvantage but ATP doesn’t seem to care.

“I think he started playing better at some moments. I do think in a way, he got lucky with some shots but that’s tennis. When I say lucky, he also went for them so he deserved it.”
