Jake Knapp: “It’s all new to me,” after challenging second round at Cognizant Classic

Jake Knapp was not as dominant and brilliant in the second round, but the great golfer is still the leader of the Cognizant Classic, albeit 11 strokes worse than in the first round. With a birdie for 1-under 79, the 30-year-old American achieved a one-shot advantage over Matthieu Pavon, who is patiently waiting for a chance, and a moment to take over the leading position.

In an interview with the media, the American golfer admitted that this was a completely different experience for him, considering that he had not had many similar moments in his career before.

Although he seemed much superior in the first round, Knapp can be delighted that he is still at the top.

Of course, now things look much more difficult, but if he manages to find the same rhythm as on the first day, he will have a great chance to stay at the top.

“I’ve never had to follow up a 59 at a tournament before. It’s all new to me,” Knapp said, as quoted by Daily Mail.

“Yesterday, everything was just clicking ball-striking wise, distance control felt really good, was able to control flight and windows. All that was perfect.”

Weather conditions: Nothing too concerning

We witnessed ideal conditions on the first day, while on the second day the winds created problems for the players at PGA National. Knapp admitted there were a few bad results.

“A couple of wayward shots, but nothing too concerning,” he said.

Knapp had a few unfortunate moments on the second day, but the famous golfer doesn’t want to dwell on the negative, knowing that he has a good chance ahead of him. The 30-year-old admits that things haven’t been good, but this will be a chance to analyze where he went wrong, try to correct crucial mistakes, and aim for victory.

Although he knows that sometimes it’s unnecessary to delve deeper into the problem, Knapp is looking forward to the opportunity.
