Benoit Paire will have an interesting gig during this year’s French Open as he is set to work as a consultant during the Parisian Grand Slam tournament.
Since making his first appearance at Roland Garros as a pro when he took part in the 2008 qualifying event, the Frenchman has made 17 consecutive appearances at his home Major.
But this year hasn’t been great on the court for the three-time ATP champion, who hasn’t played since picking up his fourth consecutive defeat at the Manama Challenger in mid-February. Also, he has plummeted to No. 575 in the world and there are signs that the 35-year-old may be preparing to end his career.
Now, L’Equipe reports that France Televisions is launching a new digital channel that will be solely focused on covering the French Open. And Paire and another French tennis player Alize Lim will be a part of the team.
The former world No. 18 confirmed the news on X.

Paire recently announced his beer brand
Anyone who is familiar with the three-time ATP champion’s character knows that the Frenchman is no stranger to relaxing himself with a beer. And recently, he came to the idea to start his own beer brand.
“I have to admit that we are a bit late and that there have been some hitches, but the sale of the product will start in April. I am really happy to be personally involved in this project,” Paire announced last month.
The 35-year-old may still be a pro tennis player but he appears to be setting himself up for post-retirement life.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Paire competes at the French Open. Last year, he was beaten in the qualifying final round by Jozef Kovalik. Since he is ranked outside the top-500 at the moment, he would need a wildcard just to get into qualies.
