Alex Corretja’s nephew, Izan, has been struggling to present his skills on the professional level. The 18-year-old is miles behind his uncle’s pace after dropping his first ten matches without winning a set!
Izan received an invitation for nine Futures at home in Spain, falling on the first obstacle in straight sets. Corretja got a chance to test his level on the Challenger Tour following the qualifying wild card for Menorca Challenger.
He faced world no. 292 Kimmer Coppejans in the first round and experienced a double bagel in 46 minutes! The former top-100 controlled the pace on serve and return and provided the Spaniard’s most brutal loss on the professional level.

Kimmer dropped 17 points in 12 games for a massive domination! The Belgian dropped seven points in his games and kept his rival away from break chances. Izan stood miles behind that pace after serving at 44%!
The young Spaniard collected ten points in his games and got broken six times from eight chances presented to his opponent. The 31-year made a reliable start and clinched a break at love in the first game of the duel with a forehand crosscourt winner.

Coppejans cemented the lead with a hold at love in game two after a drop shot winner. Izan wasted two game points in the third game and found himself 3-0 down after another forehand crosscourt winner from Kimmer on a break point.
The Belgian landed a service winner in the fourth game for 4-0 and made another push on the return in the next one. A left-hander hit a double fault, losing serve at love and falling 5-0 behind. Coppejans served for the opener in game six.

He provided a hold at 15 with a service winner and delivered a bagel in 19 minutes! Corretja fought a bit harder in the second set but still ended without a game on his tally. Kimmer grabbed a break in the first game with a drop shot winner.
The Spaniard reached a deuce on the return in game two before the Belgian closed it with a forced error to extend his streak. Izan denied a break point in the third game before Kimmer seized the second with a winner at the net, moving 3-0 in front.

Coppejans clinched his tenth consecutive game after the rival’s backhand error, moving closer to the finish line. A left-hander hit double faults in the fifth game and experienced the fifth consecutive break, allowing his rival to serve for the win in the next one.
Kimmer landed a service winner at 5-0, holding at 15 and sealing the deal with a double bagel in no time.
