Alexander Bublik is sure that Jannik Sinner received preferential treatment

Many players did not express a favorable opinion on the agreement between Jannik Sinner and WADA, which allowed the Italian ace to stay out of the tour for three months without having to go to trial before the CAS in Lausanne.

The world number 1 could have been totally acquitted as had happened in the first instance, but he could also have suffered a suspension of one to two years which would have had enormous repercussions on his career.

This solution is very convenient for the 23-year-old from Sesto Pusteria, who will not miss a single Grand Slam tournament and will be able to prepare well on the red clay for Roland Garros. The 3-time Grand Slam champion will miss six tournaments in total, including four Masters 1000, but his margin over Sascha Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP rankings allows him to remain fairly calm.

Bublik on Sinner’s deal with WADA

In an interview with ‘Championat’ during the Doha ATP 500, Alexander Bublik reflected on the agreement between Jannik and WADA: “If we could all negotiate like he did, it would be really great. If there is that possibility, all players must be treated equally.”

The Kazakh ace continued: “Both sides have stated that they have reached an agreement. How was it achieved? On what assumptions? Whose initiative was it? Is it a possibility open to everyone? I think I would have been suspended for four years if I had been in a similar case.”

During his press conference in Doha, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic revealed that he had spoken to numerous players in the locker room and most of them are convinced that the world No. 1 has enjoyed very favorable treatment.

Through his official X profile, former world number 1 Yevgeny Kafelnikov was very harsh on Sinner: “I just don’t get it!! If you absolutely 100% sure of your innocence (as he was before with his lawyers),why you accepting 3 month ban?? Makes no sense to me.”
