World no. 9 Andrey Rublev will work with the former world no. 1 Marat Safin during the clay swing! While Fernando Vicente remains Andrey’s coach, the Russian will seek new improvements in his game with the former Major champion.
Rublev and Safin have been talking a lot recently. The retired player has been helping the struggling star to embrace less negative mindset and overcome his mental issues. Despite remaining in the top-10, Andrey has been struggling to find consistency for a couple of years.
Also, we have seen many outburst and tantrums when things were not going his way, including hurting himself with a racquet! Rublev had been taking anti-depressants for a year, and it all stopped when Safin stepped in spoke to him.
Rublev was defaulted from his match against Bublik
He yelled in the line judges face bc of a call he didn’t agree with.
Andrey says he didn’t say any profanities to the line judge in Russian
Bublik says: “I’m okay to continue.”
Crazy ending… wow.

Andrey embraced a 43-26 score in 2024. He played well at the beginning of the season before experiencing a default at the ATP 500 Dubai Open. The Russian struggled to recover for a couple of months, although we saw him lifting the Madrid Masters trophy.
Rublev had a couple of more good results by the end of the season and entered the ATP Finals where he took only one set. Andrey made a terrible start to the 2025 season before finding the form in February.

He conquered the ATP 500 event in Doha over Alex de Minaur, Felix Auger-Alliasime and Jack Draper to remain in the top-10. However, Rublev lost his form again and experienced early exits in Dubai, Indian Wells and Miami.
The Russian will seek a fresh start with Marat Safin in his box in Monte Carlo. Safin will work as a coach for the first time in his career, although he led the Russian squad at the ATP Cup.
