Angel Cabrera receives US visa, set to return to Augusta National

Angel Cabrera, a well-known name in the golf scene, returns to golf courses after a long time. An experienced golfer served two and a half years in prison for domestic violence. Although he was convicted in July 2021, Cabrera was convicted again a year later for a second assault.

The 54-year-old will perform at Masters in the next month, and it is important to point out that Angel Cabrera acquired a US visa.

Fred Ridley, chairperson of Augusta National Golf Club pointed out in an interview with the media that they are impatiently waiting for the return of Cabrera, considering that he has not played in the biggest golf tournament for several years.

“Angel certainly is one of our great champions,” said Ridley, as quoted by Irish Independent

“As we all know, he has been unable to participate in the Masters the last couple of years due to legal issues.

“We’ll definitely welcome him back if he’s able to straighten out those legal issues.”

Ben Crenshaw reacts

Ben Crenshaw, the organizer of the Champions Dinner, said that he is looking forward to the return of the Argentinian golfer, who won this competition in 2009. Crenshaw stressed that the focus will naturally be on Scottie Scheffler, the man who celebrated at the Masters last year, but also at many other tournaments.

“I tell you what, I’m excited to see Angel,” Crenshaw said. “The focus of the dinner will be on Scottie (Scheffler, last year’s winner), but it’ll be great to have Angel back.”

Cabrera played in this tournament for the last time in 2019, when the legendary Tiger Woods won this competition. We have no doubt that the experienced golfer is eager to return to a place with which only fond memories bind him.

Angel is a golfer who, despite his age, certainly still has a lot of quality.
