Angela Stanford received a huge honor after it was confirmed that she will captain the US women’s golf team at the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands next year. The 47-year-old has a huge experience behind her, considering that she performed six times in this competition.

In an interview with the media, the LPGA Tour golfer pointed out that she is grateful for this opportunity, joining the big names who also had the same honor of leading the US team.

Stanford stresses that this is the peak of her career, with the desire to help the team in the Netherlands next year.

“I’m extremely grateful to be named the next American captain for the Solheim Cup and join a list of my heroes in the game,” she said, as quoted by Golf Australia.

“I’ve always believed that I represent more than myself on the LPGA Tour, and there is no greater honour than representing your country.

I consider this the pinnacle of my career, and I’m looking forward to leading our players to the Netherlands in 2026.”

Liz Moore reacts

Liz Moore, interim LPGA commissioner, also shared her opinion regarding this news, saying that Angela is the right choice for the US team.

“Angela Stanford will certainly be a wonderful captain for the U.S Team at the 2026 Solheim Cup,” said Liz Moore.

Moore stressed that Angela is a real leader and a person who is ready to help the players of the US team. Having such a responsibility is not that easy, but her experience and leadership skills could be the key to her team’s success in the Netherlands. There is a positive spirit and optimism in the team.

The interim LPGA commissioner continued, saying that there is no doubt about the success of her work regarding the next edition of the Solheim Cup.

An experienced golfer appeared on the golf scene in 2001, doing great things and winning several tournaments. Fans of the US team are happy with this decision, having high expectations.
