Aryna Sabalenka addresses viral video, ‘more chill’ relationship with Iga Swiatek

Aryna Sabalenka didn’t want her rivalry with Iga Swiatek to impact how she views the Pole and that’s how they started spending some time together and upgrading their relationship to being “more chill.”

In case you missed it, the Belarusian and the world No. 2 practiced together in Abu Dhabi before departing for Australia. And not only that they did some work together, but they also filmed it and posted it so fans could see it.

“Keeping each other on our toes,” Sabalenka captioned her Instagram post.

Since 2022, Swiatek and the world No. 1 have been one of the biggest rivals on the Tour and it wasn’t a secret that they didn’t have much of a relationship in the past.

But that is changing now.

Sabalenka: Swiatek is a nice person, it was fun to get to know each other

“Yeah, it was fun. It all started on The Finals. I asked her to do TikTok. I was, Okay, whatever, I’m going to ask and see what happens. I thought we have to stay together and have fun and just enjoy our rivalry, not be too tough on each other,” the 26-year-old explained.

“So I asked. We did it. Since that we already practiced for couple of times. Then I was doing fitness after our hit. She was like, ‘I can join you guys.’

“I am like, ‘Yeah, let’s do that.’

“We filmed it and posted it. It’s been becoming more chill between us, too. I have to say she’s really nice person. It was fun get to know each other.”

Meanwhile, Sabalenka is preparing to launch her season at the Brisbane International.

On the other side, Swiatek is using the United Cup as a preparation for the Australian Open.

The two top-ranked players won’t be able to meet in the first week of the season but their first match of the year could possibly come in a few weeks at the Australian Open.
