Asian, Stefano Mazzoli is Rookie of the Year

Stefano Mazzoli received the “Rookie of the Year Award” as the best debutant on the Asian Tour. Ranked 25th in the order of merit and keeping the ‘card’ for 2025, he overcame competition from Japanese Tatsunori Shogenji. He is the first Italian to obtain this recognition, which is well-deserved and underlined by a season in which he cashed in eleven times, out of 16 appearances, with three top tens: fourth in the Black Mountain Championship, fifth in the International Series Morocco and sixth in the Link Hong Kong Open. Among the first to congratulate the 27-year-old from Segrate, Matteo Manassero. “Grande primero” wrote the number 1 of Italian golf on Instagram.

Mazzoli now also has the opportunity to participate in the LIV Golf Promotions (December 12-14, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) where a place in the Arab Super League 2025 is up for grabs. The competition will be held over a distance of 72 holes, 36 of which on the final day, with a particular formula. After the first round, the scores will be reset and the top 20 and those tied for 20th place will play the second round, along with other automatically admitted players. At the end, the scores will be reset again and everything will be up for grabs between the top 20 in the final rush. The winner will play on the LIV Golf and will also pocket a check for $200,000 (out of a prize pool of $1,500,000). The top ten will be able to play the events of the International Series 2025, scheduled on the Asian Tour, which have a prize pool of at least $2,000,000.

As an amateur, Mazzoli was part of the Italian team that was the European Boys champion (2014) and won the individual European Championship (2015). He studied in the USA, graduating in 2019 from Texas Christian University, where he played on the golf team with three successes in individual College competitions. Having turned professional in 2019, he obtained three titles on the Alps Tour (Red Sea Venice Open, 2020; Antognolla Alps Open, 2021; Ein Bay Open, 2022) and won the PGAI Championship (2021). Last January, with eighth place in the Qualifying School final, he took the ‘card’ for the Asian Tour.
