ATP Doha – DRAW: Novak Djokovic lands in Carlos Alcaraz’s half

Carlos Alcaraz and Alex de Minaur are the top seeds at the ATP 500 event in Doha. World no. 1 Jannik Sinner should have led the field. However, the Italian accepted WADA’s three-month ban and withdrew from the packed ATP 500 tournament.

Novak Djokovic returns to Doha for the first time since 2019, seeking his third title at this event. The legend will also seek his 100th ATP title, although his path toward the trophy is anything but easy, with tough rivals right from the start.

Grigor Dimitrov, Jack Draper, Andrey Rublov, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas will also seek a deep run and 500 ATP points.

Alcaraz will seek his second title of the season after conquering Rotterdam last week. The Spaniard kicks off the action against the veteran, Marin Cilic, who seeks to restore his old level following knee issues.

If he passes the Croat, world no. 3 will likely face Zhizhen Zhang, Grigor Dimitrov or Jiri Lehecka en route to the semi-final. The 3rd seed Djokovic plays against Matteo Berrettini in a blockbuster R1 clash four years after their Wimbledon final.

The 24-time Major winner will face Jan-Lennard Struff or Tallon Griekspoor in the second round before battling against Jack Dtaper or Alexei Popyrin. Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas lead the third quarter.

In an all-Russian battle, Medvedev will fight against Karen Khachanov at the start of the event. Felix Auger-Aliassime and Hamad Medjedovic will also try to reach the last four in this section. Medvedev is still active in Marseille while Tsitsipas struggles to find his A-game.

Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev lead the fourth quarter, with Roman Safiullin, Ugo Humbert and Alexander Bublik as their most dangerous rivals. The crowd in Doha will witness high-quality battles from the opening round.

If the favorites prove their status, we will also get thrilling battles from the quarter-final stage. Everyone wants to see another duel between Alcaraz and Djokovic, and other players want to spoil their party.
