World no. 17 Ugo Humbert successfully defended the ATP 250 Marseille title. The home star defeated the young Serb Hamad Medjedovic 7-6, 6-4 in an hour and 40 minutes in the title clash, extending his great run at home.
Thus, Humbert extended his great indoor run at home, winning 18 of the previous 19 matches since November 2023. Ugo became the first French player to defend an ATP title since Gael Monfils in Rotterdam 2020.
Hamad played well en route to the final and gave everything against the better-ranked opponent. The Serb erased a 5-3 deficit in the opening set and squandered a set point on the return at 6-5. Humbert claimed the tie break and delivered a late break in the second set to lift a trophy.

The home player served at only 50%. However, he faced only two break points and got broken once. Medjedovic struggled behind the second serve and played against seven break points. The young gun dropped serve two times to finish runner-up.
They fired 63 service winners in 138 points. Ugo built a 37-26 advantage in that segment, while Hamad had the upper hand from the baseline. Humbert landed 26 winners and 23 unforced errors, taming his strokes nicely and leaving his opponent on a 14-25 ratio.

The Frenchman served well in the opening four service games. He grabbed an early break in game three with a smash winner and moved in front. A left-hander landed an ace in the fourth game, holding at love and forging a 3-1 advantage.
Ugo mirrored that in game eight, opening a 5-3 lead after 28 minutes. Hamad reduced the gap to 5-4 and made a push on the return in the next one. The young Serb welcomed the rival’s mistake, pulling the break back and gaining confidence.

Medjedovic drew Humbert’s mistake in the 12th game and generated a set point. The Frenchman saved it with a service winner and introduced a tie break. Humbert landed a backhand return winner at 2-1 and fired a forehand winner in the next point for another mini-break.
The home favorite landed an ace in the sixth point for 6-1 before losing one point on serve. Ugo hit a powerful serve at 5-4 for two set points and seized the first with an unreturned serve for 7-6 in 54 minutes. Hamad faced the ultimate test in the sixth game of the second set.

He denied two break points with winners and the third with a forced error before firing a forehand winner for 3-3 and more drama. Humbert moved 4-3 up with a service winner and provided a hold at love with an ace two games later for 5-4.
The Frenchman stepped in on the return in game ten. Medjedovic missed a forehand right after serve and faced three match points. Ugo seized the first with a fine attack, delivering a break at love and celebrating the title defense.
