Bernhard Langer says Tiger Woods could ‘move the needle’ on the Champions Tour

Bernhard Langer, the legendary PGA player, is known for his honest opinion, which sometimes arouses a reaction among the public. Before the start of one of the tournaments, the experienced golfer spoke about the potential arrival of Tiger Woods on the Champions Tour.

Although it is a scenario that many would like to see, some are not sure what decisions Tiger will make in the next few years. The German golfer is aware of how important Tiger is to the world of golf, and thinks it would be incredible if a golfer of his caliber came to the Champions Tour.

“I’m convinced he will play several (events). Depends how many. I’m going to gradually get older and older here, and I may not be at the very top of my game when he comes out, but he always moves the needle.

He’s a very exciting personality to watch, and it would be fantastic for Tiger and for our Tour to be competing out there, and I think all the players would welcome him, and it would be an interesting competition because the guys are very good.”- Langer said, as quoted by Golf Monthly.

Tiger Woods’ importance

Golfers who reach their late playing years are often tempted to take a new step in their career, and this kind of competition profile opens doors for them. The experienced German is aware that this is the best opportunity for older golfers to show their qualities, emphasizing how difficult it is to be part of this competition. Nevertheless, Tiger Woods would be accepted by both officials of this competition, aware that he would be an important link in their rating.

“It’s the only major senior Tour in the world, so you get the best players from all over the world to compete in this, and we only have 78 Tour cards basically, so it’s a very, very tough tour to get on, and only the best make it.”- he concluded.
