Boris Becker praised Carlos Alcaraz ahead of Indian Wells but this time not because of the Spaniard’s game but because of the 21-year-old charismatic personality and “infectious smile.”
During his pre-tournament presser at the opening Masters of the year, the world No. 3 was seen smiling and just looking chill and relaxed as always.
On X, journalist Jose Morgado shared one part of the Spaniard’s presser, along with a photo of him smiling.
And Becker reacted to it by saying that Alcaraz is one of the rare players with “such charisma”
“Carlos’ smile is infectious… In the history of the game I don’t remember many players with such charisma!” the German tennis legend wrote on X.

Alcaraz once explained how he manages to look so happy during matches
The four-time Grand Slam champion smiling before and during matches – even having fun during tense moments – is something to which tennis fans are well-accustomed to seeing.
Last year, the Spanish tennis star was asked about it and he answered by simply explaining that tennis was always his childhood dream and he always looked at it that way.
“It’s natural, ever since I started at the age of four or five,” Alcaraz said at the time.
“I always try to enjoy the moment and live my childhood dream. I still see tennis as a game and I always enjoy being on the court.
“Having a smile on my face is the key to everything I do. I smile a lot when I play and that reflects on my game.”
In that same interview, the reigning Wimbledon champion also shared what are the things that make him happy and joyful and when competing.
“What makes me happy? Doing different things that are out of the ordinary and seeing the crowd enjoy it. Their enthusiasm makes me really happy, and that gives me even more energy,” he said.
Judging by how smiley he was in his pre-tournament presser, it is safe to say that he is in great spirits ahead of his Indian Wells defense.
