During his career, Tiger Woods changed certain things in his game many times, with the aim of success on the golf scene. Although he was quite successful in this, there were also moments when Woods’ modifications did not bring results.
Brandel Chamblee, a former PGA Tour player, and today a commentator and analyst, reflected on some of Tiger Woods’ changes, in cooperation with coach Hank Haney.
Appearing on ‘The Dan On Golf’, veteran Chamblee shared his frustrations with Haney’s approach, believing it was absolutely wrong to alter Tiger’s swing.
“Hank Haney was telling Tiger Woods how to play golf and Hank Haney had the driver yips. He couldn’t hit a range.
And this guy is telling Tiger Woods how to change his golf swing from the greatest golf swing in the history of the game.”- he said, as quoted by Express.
Brandel Chamblee on Tiger Woods’ reaction
However, the analyst is not satisfied with the reaction of Woods, who decided to listen to the coach’s advice. Namely, the 49-year-old golfer excelled in that period, he did great things, but he again listened to advice and decided to change his swing. Looking at it from this perspective, Chamblee doesn’t understand why Tiger decided to change such things in the first place.
Brandel went that far, considering it the craziest thing anyone has done in the history of sports.
“Tiger Woods had just won four majors in a row, The Players and the Canadian Open all in a span of a year.
He was in the middle of making 142 cuts in a row and he was winning by 12 and 15 and eight shots in these major championships – and he changed that golf swing.
So, I am now sitting down for the first time at a desk as an analyst. And the first question I get is, ‘Why would he change that golf swing?’
It’s the craziest thing in the history of sports what Tiger Woods did. Absolutely, without question, there is nothing that comes close in the history of sport.”
Although the experienced golfer later made various moves and even started collaborating with new names, it turned out that he made a huge mistake.
His qualities always come to the fore, so in 2013, this experienced golfer performed brilliantly again. However, later he experienced fluctuations in the game, and there are a lot of reasons for this, with injuries being the number one.
