Brooks Koepka is a golfer who has always set big goals for himself and strived to achieve them. The 34-year-old has had the opportunity to win two Majors over and over again during his career. Although he fell short of winning the Masters and The Open, Koepka still believes he can win those Majors.
Speaking to the media, the experienced golfer reflected on the Majors, saying that he considers a year in which he doesn’t win one of the Majors to be a failure.
“Without a doubt, If I don’t win a major, I think it’s a failure. It’s not a good year,” he said ,as quoted by The Fresno Bee.
The famous golfer was a guest on ‘The Joe Pomp Show’ and once again put the accent on the Majors, stressing that by winning the Majors, you remain forever inscribed in the history of this sport. Koepka made a comparison between himself and famous basketball players like Michael Jordan.
“Everything’s a tuneup for the majors. It’s what you’re remembered by in history, it’s like anything you remember about championships, right? Nobody asks MJ how many regular season wins you had?”- he continued.
Brooks Koepka talks about Majors preparations
Preparing for the Majors is challenging. Playing in such big competitions carries a special dose of responsibility and pressure that only the best of this sport can answer. An experienced golfer pointed out that preparing for the Majors means that the fundamentals are down. If things match, Koepka has no doubt in himself, believing that he can beat anyone.
“Make sure my ball striking is correct, the fundamentals are down…. [Not mental preparation] that’s what the whole prep is for, if all that’s good, then I’ll be eventually just fine, I know I’ll win that battle on everybody out here,” he said.
It will be interesting to watch him at the Majors this year.
