Patrick Mouratoglou, in his column Eye of the Coach on TennisMajors, talked at length about the collaborative relationship started between Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic, with the former who has now become the coach of the 24-time Serbian champion.
The French coach, currently the coach of the Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka, is very active on social media and often offers his followers and readers interesting insights into many facets of tennis.
Serena Williams’ former coach also discussed in depth Novak Djokovic’s competitiveness mainly with his two main rivals at the moment, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, the two winners of all 4 Slams in 2024.
The French coach has his own rather interesting theory: while he says that it will not be easy for the Serb to overcome the young Spanish champion, he sees Sinner as the toughest rival for the legendary 24-time Slam champion.
“The level of Alcaraz and Sinner at the moment is impressive. I’m not saying that it’s easy for him to beat Carlitos, but it could be more difficult for Djokovic to beat Sinner,” he said.

In the latest episode of his Eye of the Coach he also motivated this opinion, analyzing: “It could be more difficult for Novak to beat Jannik than Carlos, because Jannik doesn’t give anything away and has the same skills as the Serbian tennis player, he covers the court very well, doesn’t make any mistakes and takes the ball before Djokovic.
So the 24-time Slam champion will have to find incredible form to dominate Sinner. But be careful, I’m not saying it’s easy to beat Alcaraz, it’s not but there are different characteristics. In this case he has to deal with his power, his changes of pace, the speed of the ball, the changes of direction and his physical strength.”
We recall Alcaraz closed his season by winning the French Open, Wimbledon Championships and the Silver Medal at Paris Olympics. Jannik won the Australian Open, the US Open and the ATP Finals, for a total of 8 titles in the season.
