Carlos Alcaraz came back to talk about schedule and programming, during the Media Day of the Australian Open 2025.
The Spaniard has never hidden his negative opinion regarding the seasonal tennis schedule too full of events, which according to the Spaniard can also compromise the health of tennis players, more exposed to injuries.
“There is a debate among players who complain about the calendar and then play a lot of exhibitions, but I have always said that it is totally different. Fritz says the same thing: a tournament of maximum mental and physical stress for 9 days cannot be the same as going to play one day to entertain people. This year, I will probably cancel some exhibitions and I will certainly skip some tournaments.
It depends on how things go, how I play, if I am physically well or if I need to stop. What I do not want to do is play a competition when I am mentally tired, go there and live an odyssey. I want to go to the tournaments feeling good, having fun playing tennis, if things do not go like that I will make a different decision,” he explained.

Carlitos also analyzed the collaboration started with Samuel Lopez, as assistant coach of Juan Carlos Ferrero.
“Juan Carlos has been with me for six years, he knows me very well, he knows what I need during matches, how to tell me things in the match. For me he is a very important figure, I love having him with me in tournaments. This year I will travel with Samuel for a few weeks and I have complete confidence in him. Here in Melbourne I will be with Juan, so he will be able to help me in any situation,” revealed the Spaniard.
The young Spanish player also focused on the changes he has made to his serve, stressing how both he and his team knew very well that this was a fundamental that had to be improved, sooner or later.
“We knew that the serve was something we had to improve, something had to be done. This new movement is a little more relaxed, especially with the wrist. What we are looking for is that it has more rhythm, that there is no more stopping when I reach the top with the racket, that everything goes more fluidly” said Alcaraz.
