Challenge Tour: second title for Euan Walker

The Scotsman Euan Walker, with a final round of 66 (-6) shots, the best score of the round, recovered six positions and won with 135 (69 66, -9) the Swiss Challenge, played on the Golf Saint Apollinaire course (par 72) in Folgensbourg, a French city on the border with Switzerland. The Challenge Tour tournament, due to bad weather, was reduced from 72 to 36 holes with flooding of the course and related interruptions.

Challenge Tour, results

Walker, 29, obtained the second success on the circuit, after the one in the British Challenge (2022), in a season in which as a best result he obtained only one top ten (4th in the Abu Dhabi Challenge). He concluded his race with six birdies, without bogeys, and beat by three shots the Norwegian Kristoffer Reitan and the English Bradley Bawden, second with 138 (-6). In fourth place with 139 (-5) the French Benjamin Hebert and in fifth with 140 (-4) the Swiss Luca Galliano, the transalpine Robin Sciot-Siegrist, the Australian Hayden Hopewell and Joshua Grenville-Wood of the United Arab Emirates.

Average ranking for Filippo Bergamaschi, 31st with 144 (73 71, par), and just behind Aron Zemmer, 44th with 146 (70 76, +2). The following did not pass the cut, which fell to 146 (+2), Pietro Bovari, 63rd with 147 (+3), Gregorio De Leo, 71st with 148 (+4), Lorenzo Gagli, 81st with 149 (+5) and Enrico Di Nitto, 93rd with 151 (+7). Reduced event and reduced first coin: the winner went 32,400 euros instead of the 43,200 expected.

The rules of golf are relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are played outdoors, close to nature and animals. Respecting the rules is a basic element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on self-control and the free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, sometimes consciously, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to the failure of many players to comply with the rules of the game. In addition to the rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the game with due respect for the golf course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport. And this is all about it.
