Charley Hull delivers a strong reply to reporter’s retirement query

Charley Hull is a person who attracts attention month after month, but some are not sure that Hull is doing it the right way. The 28-year-old has often been linked to retirement, given that the English golfer has said several times that she is losing interest in golf. Some have taken it as her ‘farewell’ to the sport. However, judging by her statements, it seems that this popular golfer has no such intentions.

Hull answered a reporter’s question during a press conference before the HSBC Women’s Championship: I read an article a few months ago that you were retiring, what was that all about?

The 28-year-old had an interesting answer:

“I don’t think that’s about me surely. Lexi is retiring but not me. Definitely not me. I’ll play golf until I’m on my deathbed..”- Hull said, as reported by Golf Digest.

Charley Hull’s earlier statements

The situation seems confused, but it is clear that Charley never directly said that she wanted to retire. However, her statements from earlier suggest that she has this in mind. Namely, the 28-year-old pointed out a few months ago that she has a completely different focus at this stage of her career.

In addition, Charley admitted that she doesn’t have the interest in golf as she used to, aiming to become an athlete. Her focus is also on mental health.

“My main goal actually isn’t on the golf course,” Hull said.

“I want to try and get my 5k run time down to 20 minutes by the end of the year. It’s around 26 minutes at the moment.

I don’t train in golf. I have zero interest in training in golf. I don’t want to just be a golfer. I want to be an athlete. I train because it’s good for my mental health and it’s good for me. I just enjoy it as a hobby.”- she concluded.
