Coco Gauff funnily shares why she stopped doing New Year’s resolutions

Coco Gauff funnily revealed that she stopped doing New Year’s resolutions after having a couple of failed attempts to keep up with it.

On New Year’s Eve, the American tennis star ousted Donna Vekic 6-4 6-2 at the United Cup in Sydney.

For the world No. 3, it was already her third victory at the start of the new season – she also beat Leylah Fernandez on Sunday and won her mixed doubles match with Taylor Fritz against Fernandez and Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Gauff may be off to a strong start to the new season but she is keeping it simple.

“I kind of stopped doing New Year’s resolutions because it works for like two weeks and then I don’t keep up with it. I don’t know. There are no resolutions. I think just do better than I did the year before. Plans tonight? I don’t know. Maybe escape room & fireworks,” the 20-year-old said.

One thing is for sure – Gauff will aim for a Grand Slam title this year

It is not a secret that the top-ranked American female tennis player didn’t manage to accomplish some of the goals she set for 2024.

After becoming a Grand Slam champion at the 2023 US Open, the 20-year-old wanted to add another Major to her resume last season and also win an Olympic medal in Paris – but it didn’t happen.

All of that contributed to Gauff changing coach Brad Gilbert with Matt Daly in late 2024.

Since then, her serve has been looking better – she won her maiden WTA Finals in November – and appears to be back to her best.

And knowing the American, there is no doubt that she will be out for Grand Slam titles and the world No. 1 ranking this year.
